What Is A Wind Mitigation
Wind Mitigations are one of the best kept secrets in the insurance industry. Wind Mitigation Inspections are meant to report all components of your home that meet a standard set by the state regarding how well those components would perform in a high wind event. Wind Mitigations are not Pass – Fail as many of the standards have multiple levels of compliance and different discounts can be applied at each level.
The state of Florida has set minimum discounts for each component reported to your insurance company and there is a maximum discount you can receive. Our inspectors do not know how much you pay for your insurance and therefore cannot give you an amount of discount you’re home will receive.
Currently on the OIR-B1-1802 (Rev.01/12) form we look at these components of your home.
- Original Construction Date
- Base Roof installation Date and Material
- Roof Decking Material and Attachment
- Roof to Wall Connection Type
- Roof Geometry
- Secondary Water Resistance
- Glazed and Non-Glazed Opening Protection
Each of these seven components may have an impact on how much you pay for your insurance. We evaluate your home and report directly to your insurance company on your behalf.
